Ukraine begins testing of new Vilkha missile system

The state testing of new Vilkha missile system has begun in Odesa region, Southern Ukraine as Oleksandr Turchynov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) reported.

According to Turchynov, the state testing is the final part of the large-scale project of the Ukrainian scientists, engineers and producers.

‘Thanks to efforts of everyone who worked on this project, we got the powerful missile weapon that is better than Russian ‘Smerch’ on all indicators’, he emphasized.

Turchynov reported that the state testing will take place in several stages, during which the customer will check all tactic and technical characteristics of the missiles for compliance with the set parameters. He explained that the missiles will be launched in full military gear.

‘Taking into account the controllability of the missiles, each of them will possess the particular goals for different ranges’, he added.

According to the NSDC Secretary, the missile system will be taken up after the finish of the testing and the Ukrainian defense industry complex will begin its batch production.

On December 22, 2017, the Armed Forces of Ukraine held the successful trial of the Vilkha missile system.
