"According to the European Commission, only in January of this year the EU countries purchased 874 tons of eggs and egg products in Ukraine and that is in several times more than in January 2010. Ukrainian supplies exceeded even imports from the United States. So Ukraine at the beginning of the year was the largest exporter of eggs to the EU (38%)," the message said.
It is noted that the Ukrainian holding company for egg production plans to produce 2 billion eggs a year.
As it was reported earlier, the import of goods to Ukraine exceeded export by $741,1 million over the first two months in 2018. According to the data of the Service, the trade shortfall decreased by $249,7 million over January and February in 2018 compared with the same period of time in 2017, when this index was $491,4 million.
The total foreign trade turnover of agricultural goods in Ukraine between January and February 2018 was estimated at $3.7 million, of which $2.8 billion was made up by agrarian and food products produced in Ukraine and sold abroad.
In the first two months of the current year, exports of Ukrainian agrarian commodities grew by $102.1 million against the same period of 2017 and reached a $2.8 million threshold. The traditional staples of Ukrainian exports still include grain crops, which accounted for 35.3%, vegetable oil (24.1%), and oilseed (12%), the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva said.
