Ukraine at first priority list of COVAX program to get Covid-19 vaccines

Ukraine has entered the list of first countries that will get access to the vaccines against coronavirus according to the COVAX program, as the UNICEF reported.

Within the program, Ukraine will get 1,776,000 doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, including the production of Serum Institute of India. Besides, Ukraine will be provided with 117,000 doses of Pfizer/BioNTech.

The indicative schedule of drugs supply is from February until March and April-May.

COVAX program implemented by the World Health Organization has an aim to extend the access of 92 poor countries to Covid-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, the vaccination from Covid-19 has started in Ukraine on February 24. The first person to receive the vaccine was Yevhen Horenko, a resuscitator at the Cherkasy Regional Hospital. The vaccination is held all over Ukraine.

 As we reported, President Zelensky was vaccinated against coronavirus during a working trip to the Donbas conflict area. Besides, Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov vaccinated, as well as Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Lyashko.
