The Ukrainian side in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk asks Russia to urgently exchange Ukrainian prisoner Valeriy Matyushenko kept by Donbas militants due to the deterioration of his health as Ukraine’s Representative Denys Kazansky reported on Facebook.
“In the humanitarian subgroup, this time we talked about Ukrainian prisoner Valeriy Matyushenko who stays in the captivity of the DPR militants in the 32nd prison. He got serious problems with health – severe pain and rapid weight loss. It might be the symptoms of the oncology or other consequences of abuse a person suffered in the captivity. The Ukrainian side asks to exchange Matyushenko urgently as a person is seriously ill and it is important to save him in time,” Kazansky wrote.
According to him, the proper information was delivered to the OSCE and the third party of the Trilateral Contact Group. Currently, Kyiv strives for holding of the medical examination of Matyushenko.
Valeriy Matyushenko was kidnapped on the street on July 15, 2017. Nobody knew where he was - for three days straight. Later, the Donbas militants accused the Ukrainian of espionage.
Earlier, Russian Representative Boris Gryzlov stated that Ukraine refrained from the agreements in the field of exchange of detainees, which significantly slows down the process of their exchange and release.
