Ukraine among top-10 European armies in Business Insider rating

Business Insider composed a rating of the most powerful European armies, which takes into account the following aspects: geography, logistics, natural and industrial resources, the diversity and amount of weapons and equipment, the amount of manpower, the general development of the country.

According to the agency, Ukraine’s military budget is $4,88 billion, 1,1 million people of personnel, 2214 tanks, 240 warplanes, 29 of which are fighter aircraft, and 25 naval vessels – all these made Ukraine reach the 10th place in the rating. Greece appeared on the 9th place – it has half as much of tanks and personnel, yet it possesses 189 fighter aircraft and military budget $6,5 billion.

Russia’s army was recognized most powerful in Europe. France attains the second place, the UK – the third one.

Belgium took the 25th place, which is the last one.

As we reported, NATO strategic drills “Trident Juncture 2018”  begun in Norway on October 26. It is one of the largest military exercise held by the alliance after the Cold War. 50,000 soldiers, 10 vehicles, 250 aircraft, and 65 vessels from 31 countries participate in the drills. Besides the NATO countries, Finland, Sweden, and Ukraine also take part in the exercises.

The main goal of the drills is to check and test the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force and other follow-on forces. It should urgently respond to the threat posed to the allies’ countries-members. The Task Force was established in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
