Head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRCU) Borys Stolyarchuk and representatives of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) signed an agreement on the renewal of agreements on the exchange of technical information and cooperation in nuclear safety. This was stated in the press service of the department.
The resumption of the treaty, according to the SNRCU head, will allow to continue cooperating with the US regulator in several areas.
“The exchange of technical information between the domestic regulator and the US NRC is very important for Ukraine, as it will contribute to the development of country’s nuclear security. The cooperation in joint scientific and technical programs and projects, organization of training and exchange of specialists between the SNRCU and the American regulator will also contribute to it,” Stolyarchuk believes.
For the first time, the agreement on cooperation between the SNRCU and the US NRC was signed on April 10, 2006 in Rockville, Maryland (USA), and the amendments that temporarily suspended its operation were adopted on September 21, 2011 in Vienna (the Republic of Austria).
