The Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov believes that the high mortality rate from Covid-19 is associated with the UK mutation, which now prevails in the country. The minister said this in an interview with Radio Svoboda.

"This is a completely different strain of the virus. This is a "UK strain" of the virus, which is already spread throughout the country. And more people are infected with this virus, it is transmitted much faster, the incubation period is shortened and, most importantly, it is quite aggressive," Stepanov said.

According to him, now a large number of people have a severe form of the disease and it develops very quickly. Previously, a severe course of the disease was observed in people who were over 60 years old, and now it is 40 years old, and in the interval between 30 and 40 years.

Meanwhile, over the last 24 hours, Ukrainian doctors confirmed 11,932 new cases of Covid-19, including 564 children and 181 healthcare workers. Coronavirus_Info Telegram channel reports it.

5,052 people have been taken to hospitals during this period; 203 patients deceased, and 3,343 recovered. 76,335 tests have been taken.
