"Last night we received a letter from UEFA regarding new decisions on the uniform of the national football team. In the morning I urgently flew to Rome, where I am now and where our talks with UEFA representatives are underway," Pavelko wrote.
Andriy Pavelko stressed that the slogan "Glory to Ukraine" has long been a traditional greeting for Ukrainian fans at all stadiums and at all matches of the national team of Ukraine, it is a football chant and that is why it was approved by UEFA. A few days ago, this was confirmed by the official comment of the European Football Union on the new design of the uniform of the national team of Ukraine.
"UAF has always respected international sports principles and followed the rules that guide the highest football authorities in their work. This has been the case this time and will continue to be so. I will keep you informed of the negotiation process," Pavelko added.
As it was reported, before the start of Euro 2020, the technical sponsor of the national team of Ukraine, Joma, presented a new team uniform. The map of Ukraine and slogans "Glory to Ukraine!" and "Glory to the Heroes!" were used in the design. The new uniform caused a very violent reaction in Russia, because Ukraine was depicted together with Crimea on the map. The Russians sent a request to UEFA in protest, but the organization said that everything was fine with the design.
