Two OSCE moderators have left the Minsk talks within the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Donbas as Ukraine’s Representative at the TCG Serhiy Harmash reported on Facebook.

“Today’s TCG meeting can become crucial in the Minsk process. It also can be not crucial, but a slight chance exists. Today, two “Minsk long-livers” left the process, moderator of political task group Ambassador Pierre Morel (seven years in the process) and moderator of humanitarian task group Ambassador Toni Frish (six years in the process),” Harmash reported.

According to him, the European diplomats at the TCG tried to internalize the occupied Donbas as “delegations” or “side” of the conflict. At parting, Ambassador Frish wished all the best to “the citizens of Donbas”, while Morel called the representatives of occupied Donbas from Russia – “heads of delegations”.

“Anyway, these people left and we have the chance that new moderators will be ruled in the diplomatic process by documents, not “traditions,” Harmash expressed hope.
