Petro Poroshenko announced that two hostages illegally kept in Russia will be returned to Ukraine till the end of this week. He said it during the conference on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
“I can say, that till the end of this year we will return back home two more of our hostages. It has been discussed already, the place and the date. I think it will not go wrong. This is my top priority and I deal with this myself. I can say that in Russia decisions concerning each are made on the highest level,” the President said.
Later the President’s spokesman explained that the hostages will be back in Ukraine till the end of the current week.
“Two persons, who are kept in Russia now, according to the negotiations conducted, I plan, that we can return them till the end of the week, maybe even on Friday,” Poroshenko explained his mistake.
As we reported earlier, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, around 20 Ukrainian political prisoners are illegally kept in Russia. Some Ukrainian citizens were illegally arrested in annexed Crimea.
