Two former fighters of the disbanded special squad of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Tornado Mykyta Kust and Maksym Hlibov were released from custody. This decision was made by Shevchenkivsky District Court of Kyiv, the lawyer of the ex-Tornado members Ruslan Sushko said in a comment to Radio Liberty.
Kust and Hlibov were placed under house arrest.
According to Sushko, Shevchenkivsky District Court also earlier changed the measure of restraint to the house arrest for Anatoliy Plamadyali and Borys Hulchuk.
They were suspected of riots, death threats and extortion.
Ex-fighters of the Tornado company were accused of creation of the criminal organization and commission of serious crimes from December, 2014 to June, 2015 in the territory of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
In September 2018, former soldiers of Tornado battalion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, convicted of serious crimes in Donbas were announced a new suspision - in preparation for escape from custody. Fighters of the special forces, who committed a serious and especially serious crime, in the form of mass riots with arson, seizure of buildings, resistance to the authorities with the use of weapons, tried to escape with the assistance of employees of Kyiv detention facility," the General Prosecutor's Office said.
