The State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine has submitted the draft project of the order of the Cabinet of Ministers that offers to impose the sanctions against the Russian publishers who make and distribute the anti-Ukrainian products for the consideration of the government as the committee's press service reported.
"The State Committee for television and radio broadcasting has submitted the draft project of the order of the Cabinet of Ministers toward the use of the personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) against the Russian publishing houses that produce and distribute the products with the anti-Ukrainian content," the message said.
According to First Deputy Head of the State TV and Radio Committee Bohdan Chevak, if the draft project is adopted the reduction of the import of the publishing products from the Russian Federation is expected.
"The sanctions will concern the Russian publishing houses which activity in the form of the issuance of the anti-Ukrainian literature occupies a significant place and is systematical. Such publishers deliberately enter into treaties with the creators of the texts that aim for the incitement of the inter-ethnical, religious hatred, propaganda of violence and commitment of the terrorist acts against Ukraine. Such "literature" is a part of the hybrid war held by Russia against Ukraine. It should be adequately responded," he added.
It is noted that during the last three year, the State Committee for television and radio broadcasting constantly monitored the sphere of the spread of the books-distribution. The aim of the monitoring is to reveal the published products with the content that contradicts the Ukrainian legislation. The Committee made a list of the publishing products which content aims to liquidate the independence of Ukraine, propaganda of the violence, incitement of inter-ethnical, race, religious hatred, commitment of the terrorist acts, infringement of the rights and liberties of a person.
As for August 15, 192 publications issued by 35 Russian publishing houses were added in this list.
As we reported Ukraine rejected two Russian publishing offices to give permission for import of two books, which comprise propaganda of the aggressor state.
Reportedly, on May 22, 2017 the order of Ukraine’s Government which says the distributors of publishing products from Russia and temporary occupied territories of Ukraine should get a permission from the State Committee for television and radio broadcasting for import, came into force.
As of August 7, 2018 since May 22, 2017 Ukraine’s Committee for television and radio broadcasting issued permission for import to 18,826 items of publishing products from Russia and temporary occupied territories of Ukraine.
At the same time, Ukraine’s Committee for television and radio broadcasting has denied importing 235,500 copies with anti-Ukrainian content 63 times. Besides, it canceled one permit issued earlier.
