Oleksandr Turchynov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, said that today’s blocking of the Rada podium by Samopomich was an intentional provocation, as he said in a briefing, broadcasted by 112.UA.

“The blocking of the podium was an intentional provocation. There are no arguments that could justify it, including the references to Part 1 Article 7, as it was agreed to remove the issue. This is why I believe there is no excuse to blocking today’s podium and disruption of vote on recognizing Russia an aggressor,” Turchynov said.

Ne also noted that “it was this law that demanded the priority of the security issues, like cease-fire, withdrawal of Russian troops, disarmament of terrorist and militant groups, restoring Ukraine’s control over the border. And only after that we would move to other issues, including the political decisions”.

“It was the priority of security issues, the article was about it, it wasn’t about recognizing the Minsk agreements or any other agreements – it’s a different issue, it wasn’t the object of the law. But for those interested in how the negotiations happen, in Normandy or Minsk format, the main problem is that Russia is speculating and abuses its position, demanding political decision. In particular, holding a vote in occupied territories without stopping the occupation,” the NSDC secretary added.

As it was reported earlier, MPs from Samopomich and some others blocked the podium of the Verkhovna Rada, thus blocking the discussion of the Donbas reintegratin draft law.
