On Friday, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to create a channel between countries’ representatives on solving the situation in the east of Ukraine. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“During the discussion of Ukraine, the American side reported they appointed a special representative to help resolving of the Ukrainian crisis. And it was agreed to create a channel between the representative of Russian Federation and the representative of the United States in order to take advantage of this opportunity, the opportunities that the United States has, to advance the settlement on the basis of Minsk agreement taking into account the potential of the Contact Group and Normandy Format,” Lavrov said after the meeting of the leaders.
As it was reported earlier Trump and Putin agreed on cease-fire in southwest Syria, US officials inform. The negotiations have already ended.
