Trukhanov's case: Court disrupts verdict announcement due to mining reports

Malynivsky District Court of Odesa disrupted the announcement of the verdict for city Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov due to reports on mining, as the press office of the court reported on Facebook.

“Due to the messages on mining of the court building, the announcement of the sentence on the case of city Mayor and other officials will be continued after de-mining of the building,” the message reads.

It should be noted that the judge informed on the terms of verdict delivery during the court session, as reported.

“According to our calculations, we will need 25 hours for delivering the verdict. Considering an 8-hour working day, I believe that it is not difficult to calculate when the regulatory part will be announced,” the judge said.

As it was reported, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) asked Odesa court to sentence Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov to 12 years in jail. He is accused of acquisition of $3,5 million during the purchase of Krayan plant.

As we reported Gennadiy Trukhanov, the Mayor of Odesa, and Pavlo Vugelman, the Deputy of Mayor were detained at Boryspil Airport on February 14, 2018.

As it was reported earlier, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov is suspected of violating the law due to the fact that he did not declare the property his wife owns.

The NABU detectives under the guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served charges on Trukhanov due to the suspect of the embezzlement through the malpractice. Moreover, three people were detained on the same criminal proceeding.

The court released Trukhanov on the parole of Dmytro Golubov, the MP of Ukraine. Before this, the clashes near the court took place,38 people were detained.
