The first month of summer will bring for Ukrainians the Constitution Day, the Trinity, and the Ascension of Jesus. We will tell you in detail about the memorable dates and holidays of June.
The weekends in June
This month, the Ukrainians will rest for 10 days, as the Trinity (June 19-21) and Constitution Day (June 26-28) will take place. 20 days will be working.
June 1 – Children's Day. The decision to celebrate this holiday was made in 1925 at the World Conference in Geneva. The aim of the holiday is to focus the attention of society on real children’s problems.
June 6 – Day of Journalist. This day in 1992 in Brussels, the National Union of Journalists was accepted by the International Federation of Journalists.
In two years, in 1994, then President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk signed the Order on the establishment in Ukraine of the holiday of mass media – the Day of Journalist.
June 14 – World Blood Donor Day. On this day, gratitude is expressed to people who donate blood necessary for saving lives. Besides, this day, awareness is raised about the necessity of regular donation of blood to provide in-time access to affordable supplies of safe blood and blood products.
June 20 - Medical Workers’ Day. It is a professional holiday for all people, who tied their lives with medicine: doctors, paramedics, nurses, orderlies.
June 22 - Day of Sorrow and Remembrance of Victims of War in Ukraine. On June 22, the memory of Ukrainians who died during WWII is honored.
June 27 – Youth Day. In Ukraine, people at the age of 14 up to 35 are considered to be youth. This day is not only a holiday but also the best time to think about the best implementation of the potential for well-being.
June 28 – Day of Constitution of Ukraine. This holiday is the only state holiday enshrined in the Constitution. On June 27, 1996, the parliament made a decision to consider the draft Constitution during one session without breaks. The voting took place on each article particularly and on paragraphs.
In 2021, Constitution Day will take place on Monday and it is the weekend.
June 10 – the Ascension of Jesus. The 40th day after Easter symbolizes the ascension of Jesus Christ to heaven. It is considered that on this day, people should present something to people in need, donate alms and it will please the God and you can receive his willing ear and have luck.
June 19 – the Trinity Saturday Morning Experience. On this day, all Orthodox people of faith pray for deceased relatives and family members.
June 20 – the Trinity. The Christians remind the events described in the New Testament: on the 50th day after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the apostles were at the Cenacle when the Holy Spirit condescended to them. Thus, the believers got to know about the triunity of God.
June 21 – Whit Monday.
June 28 – the Apostles’ Fast starts. In 2021, the Apostles’ Fast is held 14 days – from June 28 until July 11. The Church recommends refusing meat and dairy products; from fish each Wednesday and Friday.
June 5 – World Environment Day.
June 8 – World Oceans Day, Day of Householders.
June 9 – International Friendship Day.
