The trilateral meeting on the transit of the Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine takes place in Berlin as the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection reported.
“Within the trilateral talks on the conditions of the transporting of the Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine since the beginning of 2020, Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel has started the bilateral negotiations with the German side,” the message said.
Ukrainian minister will hold talks with the Economy and Energy Minister of Germany Peter Altmaier.
The sides plan to discuss the agreement on the continuation, volumes and tariffs of the future gas contract, which will act until December 31, 2020.
Earlier President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stated that Russia would seek a solution on gas transit that is acceptable to all, including Ukraine.
On December 13, Executive Director of Naftogaz Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko announced the achievement of preliminary agreements with Gazprom on the extension of gas transit. He added that while the date of the next meeting is unknown, it will depend on progress in the negotiations.
