The partakers of the Trilateral Contact Group agreed to hold a joint inspection near Shumy settlement in Donbas as the Office of the President of Ukraine reported.
“In order to prevent the disruption of the regime of the full and comprehensive ceasefire, an extraordinary meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in the format of a video conference was held on Wednesday, September 9. The OSCE once again confirmed the groundlessness of any allegations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the town of Shumy settlement between July 5 and September 2,” the message said.
The partakers agreed about the joint inspection near Shumy with the participation of the OSCE coordinator. The Ukrainian side will provide the logistics and security guarantees to all members of the inspection.
“This day gives us hope that the ceasefire will be observed by all parties. For this, the Ukrainian party will use any mechanisms within the Trilateral Contact Group and within the Normandy format, which will save the lives of Ukrainian servicemen and civilians. We remain fully committed to the peace process and the implementation of the reached agreements," Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk emphasized.
As we reported, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba initiated the urgent meeting with his Russian colleague Sergei Lavrov - amidst the escalation that is observed in Donbas.
As is known, the escalation in Donbas occurred for the first time in a while. Russian occupants opened fire at Ukrainian positions near Prychepylivka. One of the Ukrainian fighters lost his life in combat. The militants violated the ceasefire twice the same day.
