Kyiv is staying in kilometers-long jams for the second day. People line up at stops; mobile groups of the law enforcers check the special permits for transport and state that some of them are forged, as 112.ua.tv correspondent reported.
“We observe controversy in the capital; Google maps show that traffic jams became more severe; however, the working day has already started. Usually, the traffic jams become less intensive. Kyiv map is completely red. It is difficult to get from the left bank of Dnipro to the right bank; the traffic jams are observed at both banks; the movement is complicated at all bridges. Many people switched to own cars as they did not get special permit. Public transport is almost empty, one-five people in a saloon. The situation with special permits is controversial – many people stay near metro as law enforcers did not admit them,” the correspondent said.
One of the passengers, who were not passed to the metro, states that she was provided with the permit at work and it has seal and sign of the head who assured her that the permit was issued by Kyiv City State Administration. Law enforcers stated that her document is forged.
Routed taxis are also almost empty: “Drivers say that they are controlled and they do not pass people without permits and it leads to losses. The only transport is suburban train. The number of passengers is not controlled there,” correspondent said.
As we reported, stricter lockdown was introduced in the capital. From Monday, April 5, kindergartens and schools are closed, transport operate in the mode of special transportation. However, state power bodies specified that it is not planned to introduce all-national quarantine.
Later, the President’s office stated that the authorities of Kyiv failed the organization of transport movement on special permits.
