Traffic on Kyiv-Odesa highway partially restored

Police and rescuers managed to partially resume traffic along the Odesa-Kyiv highway. This was stated by the speaker of the National Police Yaroslav Trakalo in the commentary for 112 Ukraine.

"As of now, the traffic has been partially restored, the transport is gradually leaving. As for the equipment, it is working sufficiently, if necessary, military armored vehicles can be used, "the spokesman said.

According to him, buses and cars are allowed to pass first. Rescuers, doctors and patrol police work at the site, dozens of units of equipment are being used.

Traffic on the highway towards Odesa was restored in the morning.

As it was reported earlier the harsh weather conditions resulted in a traffic jam on the Kyiv-Odesa highway. According to the State Emergency Service press department, the 7.5 kilometers-long jam occurred between Bila Tserkva (Kyiv region) and Zhashkiv (Cherkasy region, central Ukraine).

The State Emergency Service deployed 49 vehicles and 111 servicemen to drag the cars out of the snow drifts – as well as two warming centers for those in need.
