Pavlo Klimkin, the ex-Minister of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, urger to stop talking about the adoption of the Steinmeier formula by Ukraine. He twitted it on his page

Klimkin expressed the opinion that the discussion about the formula distracts and leads to nowhere.

"We just should not put it on our head. An open and honest discussion is important, where are we moving; we are obviously lacking it. The discussion first and then - the negotiations with the Russian Federation, not the other way around," the ex-minister said.

As it was reported earlier, Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich had said that the necessary amendments related to granting Donbas special status did not end on approving the text of the "Steinmeier Plan" in the Contact Group (TCG).

Steinmeier's formula calls for elections to be held in the separatist-held territories under Ukrainian legislation and the supervision of the OSCE. If the OSCE judges the balloting to be free and fair, then a special self-governing status for the territories will be initiated and Ukraine will be returned control of its easternmost border.
