Three Ukrainian films got awards at International Film Festival of India

Ukrainian films “Donbass” by Serhiy Loznytsia, “When the trees fall” by Marysia Nykytyuk, and “Volcano” by Roman Bondarchuk got the awards at 49th International Film Festival in Goa (India) as State Film Agency reported on Facebook.

“Donbass” won the coveted Golden Peacock Award at the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). It is dedicated to the life at occupied territories of the east of Ukraine.

Anastasiia Pustovit, the leading lady of “When the trees fall,” was recognized as the best female actress. This film showed a young woman, who lives in the Ukrainian province and tries to escape to another country with her beloved.

“Volcano” got the special jury prize of the parallel competition program of the film-makers’ debuts. This movie shows the story of a man, who went to the south of Ukraine and this step total changed his life.

“Such triumph confirms the return of the Ukrainian film-making industry to its role and significance in the world cinematography one more time.

Earlier Volcano, the Ukrainian film by Roman Bondarchuk, won the main prize of the 23rd edition of International Cinema Festival in Rabat, Morocco.

Besides, the national animated cartoon short of Oleksandr Kolodiy and Stepan Koval Labirynt (Maze, - ed.) received an award at the Alter-Native film festival.
