July 9, MP Andriy Derkach released the third part of the records of the phone talks between former president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and former Vice President of the U.S. Joe Biden, as reported.

Poroshenko and Biden discussed the Ukrainian saboteurs in Crimea, August 2016. According to the record, the diversionary operation took place in fact. It was recognized by Poroshenko.

Biden sharply criticized the decision to hold a sabotage operation in Crimea, noting that it creates escalation risks. Besides, it enables the Europeans to accuse Ukraine of it.

Poroshenko agreed and said that he would not dismiss the head of the intelligence, as he did not want people to tie it with the events in Crimea.

Biden directly asked Poroshenko whether he knew about this operation but Poroshenko equivocated. Finally, Biden said with irritation that he does not want this to happen again. Poroshenko guaranteed it.

Andriy Derkach explained why he published the record exactly now. According to him, the main person of interest of that event is Valeriy Kondratyuk (then Head of Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine) – was appointed to the same position again.

Derkach was concerned about this fact amid plans of Poroshenko to organize coup d’état to overthrow President Zelensky. According to the MP, Kondratyuk might facilitate Poroshenko in the fulfillment of these plans.

Meanwhile, the issue is about the events of August 2016 that took place near Armyansk. Then Russia’s FSB stated about the discovering of the group of the Ukrainian saboteurs in Crimea and that they prepared the number of the terrorist acts. According to FSB, an employee of the special service and military of the Russian Defense Ministry died during their detention.

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine stated that FSB’s information about terrorist acts prepared in Crimea and the involvement of Ukraine in them is not credible. The General Staff called Russia’s statements to be a provocation.
