The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak stated that there are still Ukrainian citizens in Afghanistan, and the authorities will do everything necessary to return them to their homeland. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
"Today, new lists of Ukrainian citizens who were able to get in touch later are being compiled. Work is underway to prepare for their evacuation. Now it may be even more difficult than a week ago, but Ukraine will do everything necessary," Yermak said.
According to him, at the moment the Ukrainian authorities are preparing planes for additional flights. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky keeps this issue under constant control.
The official reminded that at the end of August all Ukrainians who at that time applied to the diplomatic mission for evacuation were taken out of Kabul.
As we reported, a total of more than 600 citizens, including foreigners, were evacuated on Ukrainian planes from Afghanistan. The issue is about Ukrainians, members of their families, foreign journalists, human right activists and people, who faced threats. The situation in the country remains unstable amid the end of the withdrawal of the U.S. troops.
