President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the MPs of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for not approving his suggested bills and for carrying on “stooping for a whole new low”. Volodymyr Zelensky said that in his video address that was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
In his speech, Zelensky said that after the dissolution of the parliament, he thought whether this decision was not a wrong one.
“A president should be objective. Thus, he should praise one, as long as there is a reason. I want to praise and to thank the Verkhovna Rada with all my heart. Are you surprised? I will explain. After the dissolution of the parliament, I had thoughts, and... what if I was wrong? Perhaps I dissolved them in vain? Perhaps the MPs are ready to work and to make important decisions? What have been MPs doing these days? They kept the majority, kept the immunity, kept the old ministers, kept the old law enforcers in their positions, and kept the opportunity not to be responsible for illicit enrichment,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, the President thanked the MPs that they “proved the whole country that the decision on the dissolution of the parliament was the right one”.
“They left so many things to the next generations - their children and grandchildren. Thanks. Thanks for proving the whole country with their work that the decision on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada was the right one, for not disillusioning people before the parliamentary elections. For not trying to impress voters, but you remain yourselves: you continue to play truant, to press the button and to prove all those loud expressions, which citizens address to you. They are all so true,” the Head of State added.
According to Zelensky, currently, the parliamentary support is 4%.
“The level of your support was 4%, but thank you that you are not stopping and you are continuing to break through the bottom. The people see and understand everything and they will surely appreciate this on June 21. So let’s go get them one more time,” Zelensky summed up.
