Teaser of Chernobyl mini-series next episode released

HBO TV channel published a teaser of the third episode of mini-series Chernobyl which was released on May 6. The video was published on Youtube-channel.

The episode is called “Open Wide, O Earth.” It will air on May 20. There are hints on first deaths of the liquidators from radiation sickness in the teaser, and meeting of party official who finally realizes the real scale of the disaster.

“Immediate danger is over. Now, I’m afraid a long war must begin,” the Head of Government Commission on recovery Borys Shcherbina. Answering the question of Mikhail Gorbachyov about the number of people required, he said: “Approximately 750,000 men.”

The second part of the teaser contains elements of the conversation of scientists Valeriy Legasov and Yluyana Khomyuk, which ends with Lugasov’s words: “If we don’t find out what happened that night, it will happen again”.

The main cast includes Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson, Jared Harris, and Jessie Buckley. Skarsgård plays Borys Shcherbyna, who headed the governmental commission on liquidation of the consequences of the accident at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Watson played nuclear physicist Ulyana Khomyuk, who was ordered to sort out the reasons for the accident. Harris played Soviet scientist Valery Legasov, who participated in the investigation of the accident.

Johan Renck (“The Walking Dead”, “Breaking Bad”) became the director of the movie and Craig Mazin became the screenwriter of the drama.
