The negotiations on the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the self-proclaimed republics of the occupied Donbas continue. Ukraine’s representative at the talks of Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk Leonid Kuchma cited as saying by the press secretary Darka Olifer on Facebook.
“We had a very long meeting earlier. We would like to have much better results than we do. Among all the problems of the situation in Donbas, yesterday on the first place for us was the question of safety and liberation of illegally detained people. We failed to achieve what we wanted. I will not go into details and accuse anyone, the negotiation process continues,” Kuchma said.
He also proposed to hold a Skype press conference about this tomorrow.
“To do everything in order to free people before the New Year, at least a part of them. We do not know if we would be able to do it or not. But the president puts this question on the first place, he has a great desire to achieve result. And our group will make every effort so that people could spend the New Year at home,” Kuchma added.
Earlier, the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics accused Kyiv of delaying prisoner exchange negotiations.
