The visa-free regime between Ukraine and Switzerland will be implemented on June 11. It became known according to the results of the meeting of Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine and Didier Burkhalter, the Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland. The press service of President of Ukraine reported this.
'The determination of the sides of the profound bilateral cooperation was noted during the meeting.The Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland confirmed that his country will implement visa-free regime for the Ukrainian citizens along with European Union on June 11', the press service reported.
Switzerland is not the member of the Schengen Area; however the legislation of the Schengen Area functions on the territory of the state. Switzerland belongs to the Customs Union with EU. The same sort of the situation is with Lichtenstein. The possibilities of these two states in elaboration are highly limited, taking into account that the Schengen rules and procedures are worked out and changed within the legislative process of EU. They can either accept the conditions that EU works out or stop the cooperation.
Ukraine and Switzerland signed the agreement of visa-liberalization on June 7.
The signing ceremony of legislative decision to grant visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens by the European Union was held in Strasbourg on May 17.
According to the decree, the Ukrainians with biometric passports can entry EU without visa for 90 days in 180-days period for tourism, visiting of the relatives or friends or commercial goals. The temporary employment is forbidden.
