The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that Head of Kherson Regional Council Vladyslav Manger suspected in the organization of murder of Kateryna Handziuk, refused to testify twice as the SBU reported on Facebook.
The service noted that Manger stated before the court session that he is ready to testify.
However, the SBU reported about two refusals of Manger to give the testimony.
Particularly, on February 15, during the holding of the questioning of Manger as suspect, he did not satisfy, using the points of the Constitution of Ukraine and on February 20, he refused to testify for the second time referring to some fictitious, according to the pretrial investigation body, pretexts.
“Such position of Manger contradicts his statements and shows his unwillingness of the suspect to promote the establishing of the truth. Besides, it shows the deliberate evasion from the participation of the investigation with the use of the polygraph,” the SBU stated.
On February 11, Vladyslav Manger was served with charge papers in Handziuk’s murder. In his turn, Manger said that he would not escape from the country due to suspicion of organizing the murder of Handziuk.
The court ruled to arrest Manger until March 3 with the possibility of bail. However, later lawyer Dmitry Ilchenko has posted a bail for his client Kherson Regional Council Head Vladyslav Manger.
On February 19, Vladyslav Manger started to wear the digital bracelet.
On November 4, 2018, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment.
Besides, the doctors specified the cause for the death of Handziuk was specified. It was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
Handziuk case evoked a huge public outrage, with people demanding to find the orderer of the murder of the activist.
