Subsistence level, minimum pension increase in Ukraine

The subsistence line for able-bodied persons has increased in Ukraine from July 1 for 105 hryvnias ($3.86) – up to 2,294 hryvnias ($84.4) as the State budget for 2020 states.

The subsistence line for able-bodied person per month is established at the level of 2,379 hryvnias ($87,5), +100 hryvnias ($3.68); for children under the age of six – 2,013 hryvnias ($74), +92 hryvnias ($3.38); for children at the age of 6-18 – 2,510 hryvnias ($92.33), +115 hryvnias ($4.23) and for people who lost the ability to work – 1,854 hryvnias ($68.20), +85 hryvnias ($3.13).

From July 1, the subsistence line for people who lost the ability to work increases and it became the rate for the base for calculation of the pension. That is why the minimum pension without extra will also increase – from 1,769 ($65) up to 1,854 ($68.20) hryvnias per month. Besides, the minimum pension payment will be increased for people with disabilities after the war.

In addition, the government has laid down new indicators for calculating the subsistence level of some professions, namely for:

  • able-bodied persons, which is used to determine the base size of the official salary of a judge – 2,102 hryvnias ($77.32);
  • able-bodied persons, which is used to determine the official salaries of employees of other government agencies, whose remuneration is regulated by special laws – 2,102 hryvnias ($77.32);
  • able-bodied persons used to determine the official salary of the prosecutor of the district prosecutor's office – 1,600 hryvnias ($58.86).
