Kyiv territorial governance officers of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has finished the pre-trial investigation. The case related to the ex-Head of the State Service for Veterans' Affairs suspected in neglect of duty. This was reported on the official website of the SBI.

It is reported that the ex-Head of the institution appropriated public funds amount in more than $870,4 thousand intended for the rehabilitation of militaries.

The pre-trial investigation defined conclusion of treaties between the State Service and economic actors about financing of the psychological rehabilitative events from the budget. The events were aimed to provide psychological support for soldiers fought in Donbas and Luhansk regions.

The leaders of Acts of acceptance/delivery provided illegal documents where the false number of servicemen had been stated.

The ex-Head of the Service signed the documents and appropriated budgetary funds of over $870,4 thousand.

The indictment sent to a court. The case is qualified as neglect of duty resulting in serious consequences. If the court proves the guilt the suspected will face between two and five years of imprisonment with the suspension of the right to hold certain offices or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
