Ukraine’s State Investigation Bureau opens probe against Parliament's Speaker

Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation has opened a criminal case against Parliament’s Spokesperson Andriy Parubiy, as UNN reported referring to the source in the law enforcement agencies.

It was noted that the actions of the Verkhovna Rada Chairman and officials have elements of criminal offense provided in the article No.365 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code on the improper exercise of authority.

The criminal proceeding was opened on January 31.

The news agency adds that it is about violations in the organizing of work in the Verkhovna Rada and payment of compensation for accommodation for the members of the Parliament who have proper living conditions.

In 1991, Parubiy founded the Social-National Party of Ukraine together with current leader of far-right Svoboda party Oleh Tyahnybok; the party combined radical nationalism and some neo-Nazi features (by its name and the "Wolfsangel"-like sign).
