The State Investigation Bureau launched the criminal proceeding against the General Prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko on possible disclosing of the information about the investigation of the murder of activist Kateryna Hanzdiuk. The lawyer Masi Nayyem posted this on Facebook.
Besides, the lawyer stated, that he himself filed to State Investigation Bureau against the General Prosecutor on committing a criminal offense under part 2 of the article 387 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the disclosure of the pre-trial investigation details, on December 27, 2018.
However, no measures were undertaken, so the lawyer applied to the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv with a complaint on the inaction of authorized persons of the State Investigation Bureau.
On February 28, 2019, the court ruled the Bureau to launch this criminal proceeding.
“We are still waiting on the answer to the question “Who ordered Kateryna Hanzdiuk’s murder?” However, do this in the framework of the Code of Criminal Procedure, please”, - Masi Nayyem added.
Earlier, Kateryna Handziuk was known for her activity in fighting corruption in the local government in Kherson. On November 4, it became known that she deceased at age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July 2018. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment, multiple organ failure, and chemical burns.
In February, the investigation into Handziuk's death led to a possible organizer of the murder. The suspect is Vladyslav Manger, the head of Kherson regional council. On February 11, Manger was served with charge papers in Handziuk’s murder. In his turn, Manger said that he would not escape from the country due to suspicion of organizing the murder of Handziuk.
