Pechersk District Court of Kyiv provided permission to the State Investigation Bureau (SIB) investigators to confiscate the classified documents from the Office of the President. The documents concern the pass of the Ukrainian ships in Kerch Strait in 2018 as the United register of court decisions reported.
It is noted that the SIB appealed to the court due to the refusal of the Office to provide them officially.
“To provide the investigator of the third Investigations Division of the First Department of the organization of the pretrial investigations of the SIB…temporary access to the items with the possibility of confiscation of their copies, which are situated at the Office of the President of Ukraine, including the classified documents marked as “for service use” and documents, which make the state treason, particularly: Order of President of Ukraine “On NSDC decision dated October 12, 2018; “On urgent measures on the defense of the national interests in south and east of Ukraine, Black and Azov seas and Kerch Strait” dated October 10, 2018 with visas and annexes; Order of President of Ukraine dated November 26, 2018 with annexes; Order of President of Ukraine “On imposing martial law in Ukraine dated November 26, 2018,” the message said.
The SIB investigation the legality of the actions of the ex-leadership, particularly, the sending of three vessels of the Ukrainian Navy to Kerch Strait occupied by Russia on November 25, 2018.
Earlier the NSDC refused the SIB in the provision of the copies of the mentioned documents as the needed permission was provided by the Office of the President.
At the beginning of September, the court partially granted the appeal and allowed the SIB to hold the confiscation of the copies of all documents concerning Kerch Strait incident at the Office of the President and deployment of the martial law.
We recall, on November 25, 2018, Russian border guards seized the Ukrainian Yana Kapu raid tug and small armored artillery boats Berdyansk and Nikopol of the Naval Forces of Ukraine in the Kerch Strait area, using weapons.
As a result of the incident, 24 Ukrainian sailors were detained and arrested. They were transported from Crimea to the Moscow Lefortovo detention facility. In addition, three Ukrainian sailors wounded during the shelling by the Russians were transferred to the Prison Hospital.
All of the sailors were released on September 7, 2019, during the prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine.
