Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov held a meeting with Lee Yang-Goo, the Ambassador of South Korea to Ukraine, as the NSDC press service informs.
“There are many spheres, in which we could substantially increase our cooperation,” Turchynov said.
According to the NSDC Secretary, these two countries have a lot in common: “both Ukraine and South Korea were forced to ensure social, economic and democratic development under military confrontation conditions“.
The parties also discussed the possibility of creating a joint committee on military and technical cooperation, which, as Turchynov says, can substantially speed up the fulfilling of joint projects.
In his turn, Lee Yang-Goo emphasized the interest of South Korean government in expanding the cooperation with Ukraine. He also noted that South Korea supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
“We understand you like no one else. South Korea survived devastating wars, external pressure, and powerful economic crises, but without these, our country would never have become as powerful and developed as it is now. Any crisis gives an opportunity for further development,” he said and added that bilateral cooperation can bring “highly massive and positive results”.
Earlier this month, Turchynov discussed a draft law on de-occupation of Donbas with Japanese Ambassador.
