The first major snowstorm has hit Kyiv today. According to the information of the State Meteorological Centre of Ukraine, about 30% of a monthly norm of precipitation has fallen in a day, as UNN reports.
So far, 14 mm of snow has fallen in the daytime, while another 10 mm might fall during the night. Normally, 49 mm of snow falls in December.
The snow started falling early in the morning and still hasn’t ceased. Around 450 cleaning machines and almost 4,000 workers are dealing with the situation. However, it doesn't help the traffic much, as most of the city is crammed with cars.
Kyiv City Council called on people to stop driving their cars and use public transportation for commuting instead.
