Snap parliamentary elections in Ukraine are over. The polling stations are closed all across the country.

According to the preliminary results of various exit polls, five parties will make the new composition of the Verkhovna Rada (the official name of the Ukrainian Parliament). These are pro-presidential Servant of the People, Opposition Platform - For Life (Yuriy Boiko, Viktor Medvedchuk, Vadym Rabinovych), European Solidarity (led by ex-president Petro Poroshenko), Yulia Tymoshenko's Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) and rock musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk's Holos (The Voice).

The elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine take place every 5 years on the last week of October. The regular elections would be normally scheduled for October 27, 2019.

However, on the day of his inauguration, the newly-elected President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky disbanded the parliament and proclaimed snap parliamentary elections. The main reason for this he named low level of trust of the people to this Verkhovna Rada.
