In the Old Village of Rokytne Raion in Rivne region a skirmish occurred between local amber diggers and newcomers, who have announced that they are their “protection”. Those who refuse to pay for the “support” were promised to get combat grenades into the yards. They were shown to intimidate.

This was announced by MP Andriy Lozoviy on Facebook page.

According to the People's Deputy, the locals were well armed themselves. According to him, the two "guests" were shot.

Lozoviy argues that locals complained to the local police about the people who imposed them “protection”, but reaction from the law enforcement officers did not follow.

"After today's shootout the Rokytne police has finally intervened. But not on the side of law and order, but on the side of ... visiting gangsters. They were saving “guests” from the local vigilantism. There were no claims against “protection” with military grenades really," people’s deputy wrote.

Lozoviy called on the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the acting Head of the National police Vadym Troyan and the head of the National Police in Rivne region Valeriy Prysyazhnyuk

"to immediately respond to events in Rokytne Raion and suspend the Police Chief in Rokytne from duty.”

Earlier reported that local residents took "three of the seven intruders" hostage in the Old Village. The report says that "all three of them suffered gunshot injuries in the village." It has been reported that locals do not trust law enforcement agencies and believe that they can "keep things quiet”.
