The number of infection cases with the Delta strain of coronavirus grows in Ukraine. As of now, 17 cases are registered and Delta strain is spreading all over the country as Ukrayinska Pravda reported citing Chief Sanitary Doctor Ihor Kuzin.
“The situation is deteriorating now: 17 officially registered cases. The majority of them are in Kyiv because there is better access to laboratory capacities and more foreigners,” Kuzin said.
He stated that two first cases were registered in Oleksandrivsky hospital (Kyiv), five at the Public Health Center. Seven cases were observed in the Zakarpattia region and three in the Lviv region.
Chief Sanitary Doctor noted that preliminary, almost every person out of 17 was abroad; however, some of the cases are not tied with the crossing of the state border.
“In fact, these are the recurrent cases of infection that took place during the communication or spread at the home focus,” he added.
In other words, the Delta strain is gradually spreading within Ukraine.
Kuzin noted that four countries with which Ukraine borders have registered Delta strain – Russia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia. The information from Hungary and Belarus is being checked by the WHO.
As we reported, the experts of the Public Health Centre of Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry assumed that the new wave of coronavirus would reach Ukraine this autumn. However, it could reach the country even earlier.
