The police of Lviv region in the comments to the agency reported that the reason for the operation of the sirens is being investigated.
The officer of the State Emergency Service of Lviv region said that they did not test warning systems with sirens, so they "did not know the reasons for their activation." They advised addressing the authorities of the city.
At the same time, the deputy of the Lviv City Council, Ihor Zinkevych, said that the sirens activated due to a system failure. According to preliminary information, there was an unauthorized switching-on of the Ukrtelecom equipment.
"Now specialists are gathered to find out the causes of the situation," Zinkevych said.
At the same time, the deputy noted that as a result of a malfunction in the operation of the equipment, there is no threat in the city, and residents are asked to remain calm.
As it was reported earlier the vice consul of Poland in Ukraine Marek Zapur during a round table in Rivne stated that Lviv is a "Polish city". Polish diplomat reacted this way to the statement of the Ukrainian side in the discussion that in 1918-19, Poland occupied part of the territory of the UNR (Ukrainian People's Republic).
