Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) announced about the Russia’s weapon deliveries to the self-proclaimed “republics” of Donbas. This information was stated in the report about the International arms transfers in 2016, reports Republic.

Russia itself denies the fact of weapon supplying. But this information was confirmed by different sources, including the separatists, according to the message.

Russia was supplying tanks and other armored vehicles to the separatists in the eastern Ukraine, as well as anti-tank weaponry and anti-aircraft missiles, according to SIPRI. The quantity was not specified.

The source of the information about supplies to Donbas was also not specified. The authors of the report admit that collecting evidence and information about the suppliers and the quantity of the weapons is difficult. They also suppose that a part of the group’s weaponry is collected as trophies during the fights with governmental forces or from warehouses.

Russia 1 TV channel has recently reported that “DPR’s Army” has 700 tanks, the agency noted. But it was impossible to collect such number of armored vehicles from Ukraine’s armed units, the message says.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine increased sales of military products to Russia in 2016, according to SIPRI. Exports to Russia increased by 72%.
