Shooting in Odesa: police reports about five wounded people

The malefactor shot dead his associate, wounded three police officers and a taxi driver during the attempt of the detention in Odesa as the Interior Ministry of Ukraine reported at Facebook.

'Five people suffered in the result of the shooting. Three police officers and the accidental eyewitness were wounded. One more man was killed. The police officers are at the hospital now and one of them is in serious condition. The police established at the crime scene that the attacker began the shooting, wounded three police officers, taxi-driver and shot dead his associate', the Interior Ministry specified.

At the moment all suffered are hospitalized. One of them is in serious condition.

The law enforcers specified that the shooting took place at Novoselkoho Street during the detention of the man who was wanted due to the suspicion in the commitment of the criminal violation. The malefactor began to maintain resistance and opened fire on the policemen from the firearm.

'The police officers used the department-issued sidearm to stop the criminal actions of the men and the malefactor was liquidated in the result of it', the message said.

The operation continues in Odesa. The policemen storm the building where the malefactor hid and found four grenades. The work off of the catacombs in the attempt to find the possible associates continues.

The man who began the shooting is Valentyn Doroshenko, the well-known lover of Russia as reported. Doroshenko called himself a member of 'Stalin's Party' and attempted to run for the mayorship in Odesa in 2019 and called out Eduard Hurvits, the current Mayor of Odesa in a duel in 2009. He came to the municipality on the horseback with the sword.

Doroshenko was wanted by the police as the active partakes of the unrests near the building of the local department of the Interior Ministry in autumn 2013. The issue is the attempt to retake Ihor Markov, the detained leader of Batkivshchyna Party detained by the police.
