Suspects in the murder of reporter Pavlo Sheremet chose another 'sacred victim'. It was supposed to be Marusya Zvirobiy, the volunteer who helped the Ukrainian army. Chief of Ukraine's National Police Yevhen Koval reported that at a briefing.
According to the investigation, volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, one of the suspects, planned to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. She chose a sacred victim among the famous women in Ukrainian society, - namely, Marusya Zvirobiy.
In one of her phone conversations, Kuzmenko and her friend discussed illegal actions against the assumed victim; these actions were supposed to irritate the society. The interlocutors mentioned Zvirobiy as a possible sacred victim. They needed a woman, to "outdo the fancy Servant of the People".
"Our Ukrainians are prone to victimhood. They need a victim, that entire Ukraine needs to save", Kuzmenko's friend said. The women decided that Marusya would suit this role perfectly well because she is a master of making speeches. The women thought everyone would stand for Zvirobiy to protect her.
