On Saturday, January 16, Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine on ensuring the functioning of Ukrainian as an official language came into effect.
This means that:
- all enterprises, institutions, organizations (shops, online stores, shopping centers, etc.) must serve and provide all information, primarily in the state language;
- representatives of the service sector regardless of the form of ownership have a duty to serve consumers and provide information about goods and services in Ukraine only in the state language;
- if, in addition to the state language, information about goods and services is also provided in other languages, the amount of information about goods and services in the state language cannot be less than the required amount of information;
- other languages can only be used upon customer request.
Violators will face $ 181-240 fines.
At the same time, representatives of the service sector will not face financial penalties immediately. A fine will be issued only in case of a systematic violation of the law.
As we reported earlier, on January 1, a law № 891-IX on consumer lending and the formation and turnover of credit histories came into force in Ukraine.
Now contracts concluded for up to one month and contracts with a total loan amount that not exceed one minimum wage will be classified as consumer loans. Therefore, such relations will be regulated by the norms of the Law of Ukraine "On consumer lending".
