Mikheil Saakashvili cannot be on the party list of “Servant of the People” party on the snap elections primarily because he has not been to Ukraine for a long time, as Dmytro Razumkov, the leader of the party, said on air of Pulse political talk show on 112 Ukraine.

“I think, if I am not mistaking, there are some restrictions. He can’t enter the list of any party as under the current legislation he has to live in Ukraine for five years. He lived here for four years or probably less... One doesn’t have to be a member of some party to enter party lists or the movement on the single-mandate constituency, but other restrictions play a very important role,” he explained.

He noted that such questions were detailed in the law: “The admission or non-admission of a Ukrainian in some NGO, including a party, is ensured in the legislation of Ukraine, the statute and other normative documents developed by some political forces.”

Mikheil Saakashvili has got his Ukrainian citizenship - again. This is mentioned in the decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky who reinstated the citizenship of the former Georgian president.
