Serhiy Horbatyuk was dismissed from the post of the Head of Special Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office as he reported to Ukrainian News.
“I have not seen the order but the human resources reported about the dismissal by phone, he said.
Besides, according to the preliminary information, Prosecutor Oleksiy Donskoy, who held the investigation about shootings of the protesters on Maidan, is also dismissed.
In August 2019, Horbatyuk accused the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the destruction of the investigative mechanism of the case of the shootings on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in 2014. According to Horbatyuk, such a decision ruins the current well-defined mechanism and will hold not only to the delay but also to the destruction of the investigations.
On October 22, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Ryaboshapka stated that the Procedural Management Department will be created at the Prosecutor General’s Office. It will deal with the cases tied with the crimes committed during the mass protests on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in 2013-2014.
It was also reported that the organization department and department of the procedural management on criminal cases on special category crimes will be liquidated. Serhiy Horbatyuk earlier headed this department.
