The case on the murder of Kherson Mayor Advisor Kateryna Handziuk has not been filed to Ukraine’s Security Service yet, it is not going to be classified, as Ihor Guskov, the chief of Security Service (SBU) staff told 112 Ukraine.
“Today, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Office charged SBU main investigation department with the further investigation of the case. However, for now, the pretrial investigation body has not received the criminal proceeding. We stress that there are some unreasonable appeals, which concern, in particular, classification of the case. I officially stated that the case has no restrictions, it is not classified, except the restriction provided in Ukraine’s Criminal Code on the order of limitations and ways of disclosure of the information of the pre-trial proceeding,” Guskov said.
He assured that SBU would inform the community on the pre-trial investigation, but only with the permission of the investigator.
367 people were questioned on Handziuk’s case, 21 expertise were appointed. Police expect that the detained perpetrators will give additional information about the instigators of the crime.
As it was reported, on November 4, Kateryna Handziuk, Kherson Mayor Advisor, died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. Preliminary, she died because of a blood clot detachment.
Later, President Petro Poroshenko confirmed this information, he expressed condolences on the death of the official. He also demanded the law enforcers to do everything possible to punish the murderers.
The police promised that they would give a legal qualification after the conclusions of the expert examinations concerning the cause of death.
