Security Service in Lviv region will check the statement of the Lviv Regional State Administration head Oleh Syniutka concerning the English-language map on which the Ukrainian territories, occupied by Russia, have been signed as “People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk”, reports UNN with reference to the SBU press service in Lviv region.
"Investigators of the Security Council of Ukraine will check the facts in the charge papers and will give an appropriate legal assessment in accordance with the current legislation. In particular, during the check, the organizers of the forum and all persons involved in possible encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine will be interviewed," the SBU said.
In their turn, the Organizing Committee of Lviv security forum called the Syniutka’s statements "lies and manipulation." This was stated by the press service of the forum.
"This is nothing more than a lie and manipulation of the highest official in Lviv region and an attempt to disrupt the event. We consider the behavior of the head of Lviv regional administration head such that degraded the status of the Ukrainian authorities in the eyes of honorable forum guests, diplomats and media representatives," the statement says.
According to them, leading analysts and experts on security issues from Ukraine, Europe and the USA, representatives of diplomatic institutions came to the Lviv security forum.
“The staged “indignation” of Lviv administration head was allegedly provoked by a map shown during the discussion "could the war in modern Europe have been prevented", on which the territories of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova occupied by Russia and the number of occupation troops on each of them were marked. The source of the information was an article published on the website of the European analytical institution - the European Council on Foreign Relations," the organizers said.
As it was reported earlier the head of Lviv regional state administration Oleh Syniutka promised to filer a complaint to the Security Service over the support of "people's republics" on the part of the organizers and participants of Lviv Security Forum, which is taking place today at the Ukrainian Catholic University.
It was noted that during the debates Syniutka said that the meeting is promoting anti-Ukrainian ideas. The basis for this assertion was the fact that the Russian-backed separatist cells in Transnistria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Donetsk and Luhansk "People's Republics", and the annexed Crimea were marked on the English-language map behind the participants.
