The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that they are not holding searches in the premises of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The house where Klitschko lives is being investigated as part of criminal proceedings that do not concern the capital’s mayor. The spokesman of SBU Artem Dekhtyarenko was quoted as saying by Segodnya agency.
"Officers of the Security Service’s Chief Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime with the involvement of a Special Group "Alpha" are conducting searches as part of criminal proceedings against counterfeit petroleum products," Dekhtyarenko said.
He added that searches took place at several locations at once, details of the operation will be announced by law enforcement officers later.
Earlier, it was reported that this morning it became known that armed law enforcement officers in masks arrived at the house of Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Later, Klitschko commented on the searches in his house and said that in fact, they did not come to him, but to another apartment. Klitschko also said that the security forces went to the neighborhood where opera house workers live.
