In Donbas conflict zone, members of an organized drug group were detained, including employees of the National Police. This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
"The drug business was organized by local criminal authorities under the "protection" of policemen and was selling narcotic and psychotropic substances to residents of several districts of Donetsk region," the report said.
The department added that during the searches at workplaces and houses of the defendants, more than 1,000 pills of synthetic drugs and almost 2 kg of marijuana were seized, as well as 5,000 dollars, illegal weapons, cartridges and ammunition, bank cards with money for the sold drugs."
It is reported that during the detention, one of the perpetrators, the head of the police unit, fired at the SBU officers from the hunting gun. Criminal proceedings were opened under Article 307 and 345 of the Criminal Code, four members of the group were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal ProcedureCode, all detainees were informed of suspicion of committing a crime.
As it was reported earlier officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Ukrainian servicemen, and the police found a stash of ammo produced in Russia in Donbas conflict zone.
The stash was hidden close to the contact line, and there were a MON-50 and OZM-72 mines inside, as well as a mine fuse MVE-72 and three anti-personnel mines PMN-2,” the statement says.
